The Ultimate Guide to The Best Marketing Conferences of 2017

Editor’s Note: We’ve updated The Best Marketing Conferences of 2019.

2016 was jam-packed with great marketing events. Now, as we look ahead to 2017, many of us are starting to think about which events we want to attend to connect with our fellow marketers, and to learn the latest insights in Digital Marketing, Content Marketing, Marketing Strategy, and more.

With hundreds of events in 2017, it can be really difficult to figure out which marketing conference are the right ones for you and your team. So in order to help narrow the list, I asked our top marketing speakers, which events they thought were the best marketing conferences to attend in 2017.

There’s still nearly 50 marketing conferences on this list, and from all over the world. I am sure I missed some. So if you organize, plan, sponsor, or attend an event you’d like to be included, please add it to the comments?

The Best Marketing Conferences of 2017

Listed below in chronological order are top picks for the best marketing events in 2017, along with some of the quotes from our featured marketing speakers.

Month: February 2017

Event: B2B Content 2 Conversion conference
Date: February 20-22, 2017
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
~Ardath Albee: “There are not many conferences focused on B2B and this one does a solid job. It’s growing year after year, proving that the combination of speakers and wonderful weather in Scottsdale in February are a good draw. It’s now part of B2B Market Exchange which adds to what’s available for attendees, including ABM in action, DemandGen Summit and Sales Connections Summit.”

~Lee Odden: “One of the events I keep coming back to in the B2B space is B2B C2C which is now part of B2B Marketing Exchange, It’s held at a resort in Scottsdale, AZ in February, so the escape from Winter might have something to do with it.”

Location: Amelia Island, FL; New Orleans, LA; Gold Coast, Australia
~Carlos Gil: “I’m a big fan of smaller, more intimate events, such as iMedia…which average anywhere from 150 – 200 attendees. Although you likely won’t see dozens of high profile speakers like you would at a Social Media Marketing World or Content Marketing World, quality networking opportunities are plenty as you have more time to mix and mingle in a relaxed setting over the course of a few days instead of trying to connect with 1,000’s of colleagues all at once.”

Event: SXSW Conference 2017
Date: March 10-17, 2017
Location: Austin, TX
~Mark Schaefer: “I love the annual SXSW conference both as a speaker and an attendee because it is the most intellectually-challenging group of people I have found anywhere. There is so much content and so much competition, people simply walk out if they are uninterested in a talk! So far I have given two solo talks and done a couple panels and no walkers! From a personal standpoint, it’s a chance to meet the some of the greatest business, creative, and entrepreneurial minds in the world.”

Event: Niche Digital Summit

Carl Landau, Rebekah Darksmith and team do a great job with programming, and the vibe is incredibly informal and fun, which makes the discussions frank and incredibly useful. 1. Great list, Michael. (And not just because the MarketingProfs event is on it and because you also included one of my favorite smaller events of the year!)

Lots of my personal faves are on here, as well as some new ones. I especially appreciate the international angle.

  2. Hi Michael,
This is a great list you’ve put together! My suggestion would be to also include Trend Hunter’s three-day marquee event in Toronto. At Future Festival attendees experience next year’s trends from the #1 trend firm, while prototyping 5-10 disruptive ideas using the same award-winning innovation workshops innovation keynote speaker & CEO Jeremy Gutsche has used to help NASA prototype the journey to Mars. In addition to the Toronto conference, Trend Hunter is also hosting an accelerated, one-day version of Future Festival in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, London and Orlando. More information about each of the events can be found here:

  3. Thanks for this list Michael! Another awesome event in 2017 is C3, March 1-2, in New York City. C3 brings together hundreds of global marketers from emerging brands as they share stories, innovations, and insights around attracting customers through organic channels. C3’s lineup of speakers includes Larry Kim, Robert Rose, Wil Reynolds, and Jason Miller, as well as speakers from GE, LEGO, Hubspot and more! Here’s the event page if you’d like to read more about it:

It would make a great addition to this list!

  4. Thanks for including Content Jam on this list, Michael! There are a few on here I hadn’t heard of but definitely want to check out. Especially the international ones. 😉 Thanks again. Well done!

  5. This is a great list you’ve built here! My year is close to being booked up with the events I’ve already bought tickets for and a new baby on the way, but I’ll definitely try to make an appearance to at least one of the events on this list.

  6. Hi Michael,
Fantastic list and very honored to have made this impressive list of events.
The list only came to my attention as one of our registrations mentioned she found out about our event through this list so thanks again and hoping to be able to catch up this year at one of these great events in the U.S.!
(Founder – B2B Marketing Leaders Forum APAC 2017)

  7. Thank you, Michael for this wonderful post. Indeed this post made me go through many old articles that I had missed and helped me get a review of these marketing conferences. Any such information is welcome for a budding marketer, so do keep posting.
