The Best Marketing Conferences Of 2015

Michael Brenner on Jan 26, 2015 in Content Marketing

In the last two weeks I’ve had about 10 people ask me “what are the best marketing conferences?

It must be that time of year when we start to plan out which marketing events we want to attend.

Getting out of the office allows us to learn from some of the most innovative minds in our industry, and provides a great opportunity for learning and networking that can pay dividends for years to come.

I have done this list for the past few years. I did a curated list of best marketing events in 2013 based on inputs from people I asked across a few social networks.

I even invited people to rank which marketing conferences in 2014 they thought would be the best marketing events in the coming year.

I know I missed a few each time. Our perspectives are always a little biased. The opinions of my connections are skewed certainly towards content marketing, a little towards B2B Marketing and most definitely towards digital marketing that attracts an audience (vs. buying it!)

I don’t think any approach is perfect. So this year, I am going to provide a list of events that I have heard good things about, or I know people who are speaking there, or I know people who want to go to them. I know I won’t get them all, so please provide your feedback in the comments below!

Without any further ado, here is:

The Best Marketing Conferences Of 2015

Social Media Strategies Summits February 10-12 in Las Vegas, NV. This conference is billed as the leading conference on social media . With dates in Chicago (April 28-30) and New York (June 9-10.)

Content 2 Conversion is in Scottsdale, AZ from Feb 16-18. This is a great event focusing on B2B Marketing, Content Marketing and Demand Generation. Join me there (NewsCred is a sponsor and I am speaking!)

Adobe Summit is in Salt Lake City, UT from March 9-13 and grabs nearly 5,000 marketers to discuss marketing analytics, digital, social, mobile and web marketing techniques. I have never been but always heard great things.

SXSW Interactive is March 13-17 in Austin, TX (the film and music festivals continue through the 22nd.) I may be going if I’m lucky. Let me know if you’ll be there?

Social Media Marketing World in San Diego, CA from March 25-27 also bills itself as “the world’s largest social media conference.” I’ve never been but have always heard great things.

Search Engine Strategies Summit is now ClickZ Live Check for dates and locations starting with London, (February) Jakarta, Miami, New York, (all in March) Shanghai, (May) Toronto, (June) San Francisco (August) and Chicago (November).

Forrester Forum for Marketing Leadership  April 14th in New York. This has always been highly rated as one of the top events for senior marketing people. They also have dates in China, London, and Sydney.

World Social Marketing Conference in Sydney, Australia April 19-21 brings some of the top minds from around the world together in the land down under to talk about marketing, social media and digital.

Gartner Digital Marketing Conference May 5-7 in San Diego, CA is definitely targeting more senior marketers too who are looking for help in the digital marketing and technology landscape. The focus of this year’s event is on driving results with marketing data, setting up an effective marketing organization and managing the customer experience. Three of the biggest marketing trends for 2015.

Sirius Decisions Summit May 12-15 in Nashville, TN. This is the 10th annual Sirius Decisions Summit. I attended in 2013 and it was an amazing learning and networking experience, especially for any B2B marketer.

Ad:Tech Digital Marketing Conference is May 20-21 in San Francisco, CA and will bring together all the best minds on marketing, technology, media and advertising.

Business Marketing Association National Conference is held from May 27-29 in Chicago, IL. This event will bring nearly 1,000 marketers together who will speak directly to the challenges specific to B2B marketers.

Content Marketing World is in Cleveland, OH September 8-11 this year and they expect as many as 3,500 people at this 5th annual Content Marketing World. From the first time I attended, I knew these were my people. Joe Pulizzi and his team put on one of the best conferences in marketing, anywhere in the world. Come join me for my 4th year attending! (NewsCred is sponsoring and I am speaking!) If you can attend only one or two events this year, this should be on your short list.

Brand ManageCamp October 1-2 in Las Vegas, NV. I attended this event for the first three years and the team at Brand ManageCamp always put on a great show.

ANA: Master of Marketing Conference October 14-16 in Orlando, FL has rapidly become one of the must-attend events for any senior marketer.

MarketingProfs B2B Forum: October 20-23 in Boston, MA. I have met so many people at this event over the years who have literally helped take my marketing career in the right direction. I owe so much to Ann Handley and her amazing team at MarkegtingProfs, that I can’t even begin to describe how grateful I am for the learning the connections and the support. This is a must-attend event for B2B Marketing professionals.

Festival of Marketing: by Econsultancy will be in November in London. Also check out their Future of Digital Marketing in London in June. I have also heard great things about this conference.

And finally, if you haven’t heard about the NewsCred Content Marketing Summit (link will be updated soon) on May 13th and 14th, mark that dates on your calendar and I’ll provide an update here soon.

Social Media Marketing World is a must. Great networking opps. Heck, they even have the opening party on an aircraft carrier!

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks Nick, I have always heard great things. Hope all is well and that I get to run into you at one of these events this year!

  • Dharmesh Shah

I’m biased, but would have expected to see INBOUND (hosted by HubSpot) on this list.

10,000+ people last year and a roster of amazing speakers. Attendee feedback (which we’re maniacal about tracking) has been gushingly positive.

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks Dharmesh, this is one post where shameless plugs are totally encouraged. This list I created was just one man’s opinion so I appreciate the perspectives of other people, especially leaders in the future of marketing like you.

Here’s the link to Inbound 2015 for anyone interested.

Thanks for mentioning Social Media Marketing World Michael!!

  • Ford Knowlton

Great list and great comments. I did not know about the Newscred event this year. I’ll look into that. Is this something that video content creators like Epipheo would benefit from attending? I’m still trying to navigate which events to check out in 2015 and this was very helpful. Thanks!

    • Michael Brenner

Hi Ford, yes I think it would. Check back for more details!

  • Joe Pulizzi

Great list Michael…a couple of these I haven’t heard of. Thanks for mentioning Content Marketing World!

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks Joe. Biggest complaint I heard in the past was not including events outside the US. So I heard from some of our friends about which ones to include. There’s a lot of great events out there, but I hope this list is a good start. Thanks for the feedback and support as always!

I second Dharmesh. Inbound keeps getting better (and bigger) every year. The mix of training, speakers, networking, and entertainment makes this a can’t miss event if you are a serious marketer. They are also providing great resources for sales side of the conversation. I’ve been to 25-30 conferences in the past 10 years and this is by far my favorite!

    • Michael Brenner

Hey Michael, thanks so much for the comment. I am face-palming on the miss for Inbound. Obviously they do a great job and should be on the short list of conferences to attend.

  • Douglas Burdett

Michael, I love these conference lists you post each year. You would be PERFECT to deliver a Bold Talk on content marketing at the Inbound Conference! I’ve been to the last 3 Inbound conferences and they have basically doubled in size each year. Last year there were about 10K attendees. It is definitely right up your alley!

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks Doug, I appreciate the encouragement. I haven’t been approached by the Inbound team but would be honored if they did. You know I’m always happy to share my ideas on the how to improve marketing. The shift from a primarily outbound to primarily inbound marketing approach is still in the early days for many businesses.

Hi Michael. We encourage those looking for something unique and powerful to consider The Un-Conference: 360 Degrees Of Brand Strategy for a Changing World. May 18 – 20 at The Versace Mansion in South Beach. Marketers compete and learn in teams. This year we are focused on brand leadership strategies. (brand strategy, customer engagement, digital, storytelling, purpose and culture)

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks Derrick, best of luck on the conference.

May I suggest the AMA’s 2015 Annual Conference which will be held in Austin, TX this September?
Guy Kawasaki will be kicking off the conference and there will be loads of insights, innovation and next practices shared with attendees.
    Thank you!

  • Nick Johnson

    Hi MIchael,

    Hope you’re well!

I wonder whether you’d be able to add the Incite Summit East 2015 – the USA’s best brand-focused marketing conference.

There’s more at – but effectively it’s a gathering of senior marketing execs and CMOs from large brands (Dell, Citi, Amtrak, etc) meeting in NYC to discuss the future of marketing.

This year’s tagline is “Your Customers are Smarter than Your Marketing: Engage with a savvy customer base through authenticity, relevance and transparency”.

Let me know what you think!

    Thanks, Nick

    • Michael Brenner

Thanks for the submission Nick. I don’t usually allow promotional comments but this blog demands it and your event deserves a mention. Best of luck!
