Weekend Reading: “Master Content Marketing” by Pamela Wilson

For the 107th episode of The Marketing Book Podcast, I interviewed Pamela Wilson, author of “Master Content Marketing: A Simple Strategy to Cure the Blank Page Blues and Attract a Profitable Audience.”

As the readers of this blog know, content marketing is how marketing happens today.

You know you want to use it, but you might be unsure about where to start. You may not feel confident about your writing abilities, either.

Pamela Wilson, a 30-year marketing veteran who recently spent 2+ years as the Executive Vice President of Educational Content for Rainmaker Digital, publishers of Copyblogger, wrote “Master Content Marketing” to provide step-by-step help to empower people (even non-writers) to create effective content marketing in a stress-free, fun, and repeatable way.

The book breaks down the content marketing process so you have what you need to create consistently excellent content that’s effective and fun to put together.

Here’s what Brian Clark, Founder and CEO of Rainmaker Digital said about “Master Content Marketing” in the book’s foreword…

The title of the book reveals three important aspects of content marketing that works:

The first of these is audience […]. Content marketing is not about “campaigns” that are really poorly-disguised pitches. You create the right kind of content that attracts the right kind of audience, resulting in more customers and clients.

Next is the word strategy. Research on content marketing effectiveness shows that the people who struggle with it have no documented strategy whatsoever. Reading this book will immediately put you on the right track, because you’ll understand exactly what you’re trying to accomplish before creating a single piece of content.

Finally, the third important word is simple. No respectable book on content marketing would claim that it’s easy … you’re effectively becoming a media producer with a smart content strategy, and that takes work.

And yet, the fundamentals of content marketing are simple, and it’s important to have a guide that clearly and concisely communicates those fundamentals. That’s also not an easy task, and Pamela has done it.

A bit more about the book…
