40 Awesome Marketing Tweets From 2011

Michael Brenner on Dec 22, 2011 in Social Media

best marketing tweets“These are a few of my favorite things…” Now that you have that song in your head, let me tell you a little bit about how I come up with some of my blog content.

I try to follow as many really interesting people who write about (or simply share) interesting stuff in the world of B2B Marketing. And when I see a topic that I think I could cover in a new or fun or exciting way, I write about it.

That’s it. I don’t have a fancy editorial calendar. I never write more than a day or two ahead. I just write about whatever marketing challenge hits me in the forehead at that moment.

Most of the time, the topic comes to me because I saw a tweet or read a post that I thought was really interesting. I usually ReTweet it and some very special few, get “Favorited.” Here is my 2011 list of favorite tweets.

This is certainly not a complete list of the real “Best” tweets of 2011, just a list of those that moved me enough to hit the favorite button.  After I reviewed it, I thought there was some really great content in here. And totally worth sharing with you.

Maybe I will be more consistent in 2012 about “favoriting” the original author. And full disclosure, I did favorite someone for RT-ing one of my own favorite quotes which turned out to be my most populat post of 2011. More on that in a later post.

Anyway, I hope you find even just one nugget or two in here and if you are moved enough, please tell me about it. Otherwise, have a safe and happy holiday!

Michael, reading this I’m more struck by what this shows about how people use Twitter than the individual tweets. Here is what I mean:

    1) Twitter is not limited to 140 characters. Every single tweet here includes a link. Only one of these tweets might be worth including here without a link.

    2) Twitter is about sharing from others. There are a lot of retweets, effectively incorporating multiple endorsements of the content within a single tweet.

We are flooded with content today, and Twitter, a firehose of links to more content, helps when individuals consistently share great content or we see content ‘endorsed’ by multiple people.

Thanks for sharing, a number of posts here I know I should go read now.

And the most important part of this rambling comment: Merry Christmas to you and your family!

      Thanks Eric,

Great points all! There is definitely enough content in here to keep you busy for the next 10 days!

Have a great holiday to you and yours also and thanks for all your support!

      Best, Michael
